The Bower is a striking modern residence crafted by Eldridge Company in collaboration with local architect Rock Paper Hammer. Perched above Lexington Road in Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood, the home’s sculptural forms and refined material palette create a quiet backdrop for the homeowners’ art collection.
Two expansive decks frame unparalleled views of downtown Louisville, making the surrounding cityscape an integral part of the design. Guided by the homeowners’ request for a minimal aesthetic, the home emphasizes materiality throughout—from exterior stone to warm hickory cabinetry on the interior—punctuated by intentional pops of color that bring depth and personality to the space.

Inspired by the minimal Japandi style they encountered during their travels, the homeowners envisioned an interior that feels serene, light-filled, and grounded in natural materials. White oak floors and hickory cabinetry establish a warm, calming foundation, while thoughtful pops of color and metal add moments of personality.
In the open kitchen and living space, high-gloss cabinetry in Sherwin-Williams Silken Peacock introduces a playful yet sophisticated contrast. The kitchen is anchored by commercial-grade elements, including a 48-inch sink with dual faucets and a full-height stainless steel backsplash behind the Wolf range—balancing refined design with high-performance functionality.
This floating staircase acts as a sculptural centerpiece, pairing warm hickory treads with a minimal cable rail system for a light, modern presence. While floating stairs often feature black steel stringers and rails, these homeowners chose a crisp white finish—creating a bright, unexpected statement that feels both refined and inviting.
The simplest designs are often anything but. Built on deep experience, our wet rooms—where shower and soaking tub coexist—are meticulously constructed for durability, waterproofing, and proper drainage in high-traffic spaces. For The Bower, the homeowners elevated the experience further with a steam shower, creating a truly luxurious primary bath.
Emerald green J’Adore quartzite pairs dramatically with TileBar’s Curve Fluted Green tile to form a striking focal wall, while textured white tile on the surrounding walls and ceiling allows the rich green palette to take center stage.
The Bower showcases how thoughtful design and collaboration can create a modern, art-forward home in Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood. From expansive decks framing city views to serene Japandi-inspired interiors, every detail reflects craftsmanship, functionality, and personality.
