Completed in 2024, The Uptown represents Eldridge Company’s main office and investment property. Rising above the workspace, The Lay Low Lofts offer modern short-term rental units, thoughtfully designed to accommodate large groups seeking a stylish and memorable stay.

What was once a mid-20th century manufacturing facility has been reimagined into a dynamic live–work destination. By blending industrial character with refined finishes, we created a place that feels both rooted in history and elevated for contemporary life. The Uptown is not just where we work—it’s a showcase of our design philosophy, where creativity, functionality, and hospitality converge under one roof.

When we first walked into the building, it was a maze of cubicles, choppy floor levels, and just a single restroom tucked away on the first floor—far from the open, inviting atmosphere we envisioned. To bring the space back to life, we opened it up in every sense: cutting in expansive new window and door openings to flood the interiors with natural light, lowering the floor for consistency and flow, and digging in brand-new plumbing to support two restrooms and a full kitchen.

From there, the transformation took shape through craftsmanship and detail. We designed and installed custom cabinetry and built-in carpentry features to add warmth and function, layering in luxury finishes such as quartzite, quartz, and Delta’s champagne bronze fixtures. Finally, we sealed the concrete floors, giving them a sleek, durable finish that nods to the building’s industrial roots while tying the modern design together.

The result is a space that feels both sophisticated and approachable—an urban renovation that honors the building’s history while setting the stage for its next chapter.

Lay Low Lofts: Investment Property with short-term rentals

Above The Uptown, The Lay Low Lofts were designed as vibrant, music-themed short-term rentals that bring energy and personality to the building. Each of the two lofts offers four bedrooms and three bathrooms, thoughtfully planned to host large groups with comfort and style.

Full kitchens anchor each unit, featuring custom cabinetry, playful terrazzo countertops, and modern GE appliances—perfect for gathering and entertaining. Throughout the lofts, bold tile selections and eclectic décor nod to Louisville’s music culture, creating a stay that feels both stylish and memorable.

Expansive windows fill the interiors with natural light and frame sweeping views of downtown Louisville, while an outdoor patio extends the living space into the open air. Original details, like refinished concrete floors, preserve the building’s industrial character and balance the contemporary finishes.

The result is a set of lofts that feel at once modern, playful, and rooted in history—uniquely Louisville in every way.
